Mudd Club, a venue known for underground music and counterculture events, was in this location from 1978 to 1983. New wave, experimental music, and performance art all mixed in this space. The club hosted live concerts by DNA, Cold Crush Brothers (shown here), Gray, the Contortions, and the Talking Heads, among others. Clubgoers included designers, artists, writers, and musicians like Grace Johns, Debbie Harry, Lydia Lynch, Anya Phillips, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Betsey Johnson, and other 80s icons, who came together to experience these events.
